We are proud and excited to announce the winner of the 2026 Young Women in Leadership Award – Maelyn Carter! Please read her bio below and see just how accomplished she already is – we can’t wait to see what’s next for her.
Maelyn is a senior at Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, SC. She is a varsity cheerleader, member of the CAV Plex Convergence Media Magnet Program, and was recently named Miss Richland Northeast 2026. She is also a published author of Compilations by Maelyn, using poetry and spoken word to inspire others and share her perspective on the world.
She is a LOVIS Award recipient for community service, serves on the LOVIS Foundation youth board, and has performed for three years with Rebirth Enterprises Inc. at venues including the Koger Center for the Arts and the Soda City Poetry Festival. Maelyn has also been featured on local news for her community initiatives and youth advocacy.
In the fall, Maelyn plans to attend USC Aiken to study Communications and Journalism.
